CRITICAL THINKING LEARNING PERSPECTIVE
Critical thinking learning perspective is based on revolutionary social change that was led by two great thinkers, Paulo Friere and Myles Horton.
Social Learning, Behavioralist, and Humanism
Paulo Friere was a Brazilian teacher who worked closely with oppressed sugar cane workers helping to educate and free them from their indentured servitude through education. He is most famous for his book "Pedogogy of the Oppressed."

Myles Horton was an educator and socialist, who grew up in poverty in rural Tennessee. He spent his life fighting for rural poverty stricken communities and eventually founded the Highland Folk School, which produced some of the great leaders of the Civil RIght's Movement.

PHILOSOPHY
The learner challenges the myth of a social construct and their own personal philosophy.
An adult educator is expected to present thought provoking material to the students and ask their agreements and challenges to the material.
CRITICAL THINKING
The learner will start to critique their own thoughts and actions, they will begin to find their own assumptions.
An adult educator is expected to facilitate discussion between students and help break social assumptions.
ACTION
The learner will clarify their critical thoughts and change their action.
An adult educator helps the learner find an avenue to take critical action.
